Being a Woman IES Officer: International Women's Day special
A chat with Debanjana Gupta - NITian, IITian, and Deputy Superintending Surveyor, Survey of India
Hello friend
On this International Women's Day, let us celebrate the incredible unstoppable force that women are. Of course, celebrating them for one day is not enough to justify the kind of impact they bring to the world. But dear ladies, today is your day, and here is a reminder that you should let nothing dim your flame. You are a force of change in this world. believe that. don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
For this occassion, I decided to interview some of the most inspiring women I know. The first of this video series is Debanjana Gupta - one of my closest friends and definitely among the kindest, smartest, most hard-working women I know.
She completed her Bachelors in civil engineering from NIT Silchar and her Masters in structural engineering from IIT Delhi. She secured an All India Rank of 113 in the Engineering Services Examination and is currently working as a Deputy Superintending Surveyor at Survey of India.
In this interview, we discuss her journey from BTech to MTech, her preparation days, and what it means to be a woman in an engineering college and one of the most prestigious jobs in India. Watch the full video for a candid conversation spanning several interesting topics including gender discrimination, the pressure of marrying before 30, and the need for sex education in India.
